Machines of bolted brushed steel or aluminum with multiple slanted windows are used to scan images, but malfunctions cause the extrusion of glue or paint, and in one case a young man poured bleach in the slot “like it were a toilet”. It’s insane trying to work in this condition. In one case, the windows is actually a service panel full of cables. The attendants clearly don’t know what they’re doing. A labyrinthine network of passages and stairways tru and between buildings remind me of the underground corridors in the large, old teaching hospital where I trained as a resident. It’s dark, musty, exciting and dreadful at the same time.
